Are Dentists trained in CPR?
Most dental professionals are required to obtain CPR Certification for medical providers – BLS (Basic Life Support).
How long is my BLS card good for?
The BLS (Basic Life Support) card issued by the American Heart Association is valid for 2 years.
How often am I required to have CPR training?
In order to stay in compliance with American Heart Association guidelines, renewal is required every 2 years. In some cases, employers may make it mandatory to renew every 12 months.
Does OSHA require CPR?
OSHA’s recommendations and requirements for CPR and First Aid training vary depending on the work environment. Please contact your Safety Manager for guidance and a copy of OSHA 1910.266 App B.
How often does the American Heart Association update their CPR guidelines?
Guidelines are reviewed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and updates are made approximately every 5 years.
Do you train in our home or private residence?
We offer training at your home or workplace and a time that is convenient for you and your family or team.
Do you come to the office for CPR training?
Definitely! We bring all of our equipment to your office making training convenient and consistent for the whole group.
Do you do your training around our business hours?
We can do training before, during or after business hours; however, in order to have the best learning experience, we ask that uninterrupted time is set aside.
Should I buy an AED for my home?
Automated External Defibrillators can be expensive but having one in your home can give peace of mind for people with a high risk of cardiac arrest. Your doctor may suggest an implantable device if you are high risk.
Can I use an AED on a hairy chest?
Hair on the chest may impede contact with the skin. It may be necessary to remove hair before applying the electrode pads.
Are all of your classes mobile?
We are a mobile company and bring all of our equipment and training to you. If you are in need of training and do not have space, we can work with you to locate a facility that can accommodate your attendees.
How far do you travel to teach CPR?
Although the majority of our classes take place in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, we can teach just about anywhere on a case by case situation.
Do you have a minimum participant requirement?
We have a 3 person minimum.
How do I obtain my course completion card from the American Heart Association?
Cards are issued electronically and can be obtained by clicking the View or Verify your E-Card Now button at cprtrainingteam.com.
What types of organizations do you provide CPR classes for?
We provide CPR training for many organizations which include but are not limited to: Dental offices, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Fitness Centers, Public Safety Workers, Pediatricians, Foster Care Facilities, etc.
How do I treat a snake bite?
o Call 911
o Wash the area that was bitten with warm, soapy water
o Keep the bitten area lower than the heart
o Remove jewelry and tight clothing
o Draw a circle around the bitten area
Should I suck the venom out of a snake bitten area?
No
What is the difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest?
A heart attack is when there is a blockage of blood flow to the heart and cardiac arrest is the loss of heart function, unresponsiveness and lack of breathing.
Can I be sued for providing first aid?
Good Samaritan Laws protect rescuers when administering first aid when rescue actions taken are in good faith and not a result of an emergency situation caused by the person performing first aid.
Will I break ribs when I perform compressions during CPR?
It is not uncommon for broken ribs to occur during compressions but CPR should not be stopped as a result.
What should I do if someone is having a seizure?
o Keep others away from the person having the seizure and make sure there is nothing in the immediate area that presents a safety hazard.
o Do not try to hold them down.
o Note the time the seizure started and how long it lasts.
o Do not put anything in the person’s mouth.
o Call 911 if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes or is a new occurrence.
What should I do if I have a bloody nose?
Sit down, relax and lean your head forward while pinching the soft part of your nose for 10 – 15 minutes.
When will my CPR card expire?
CPR/AED/First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) cards issued by the American Heart Association are good for 2 years.
How much does an AED cost?
AEDs have a big variation in price but will average approximately $1600.
Do we use a real AED in your CPR class?
No, the AEDs used in our classes are trainers and do not deliver a shock.
Do you remove clothing during CPR?
Compressions can be given with clothing on but we recommend that it is removed if it can be done quickly. This will allow for immediate use of an AED when it arrives.
Can I use an AED if someone is laying in water?
If someone is submerged in water, they should be pulled out of the water and the chest should be wiped dry before using an Automated External Defibrillator.
What is an in-home CPR class?
We provide CPR classes in homes as well as work places. We just ask that there is ample space for our mannikins. We bring our equipment which includes the monitor for viewing the American Heart Association video. It’s that easy!
Do you teach infant CPR?
Yes. Infant CPR is not a requirement for all employers but unless specifically asked NOT to teach it, in most cases, we include infant CPR training in our classes.
How do I obtain a new card if mine is lost or stolen?
New cards can be obtained by logging into www.cprtrainingteam.com or https://ecards.heart.org.
